![]() The sound design manages to give us the thrill factor, wherever the CG fails. The CG is not even as strong as the sound design that is actually placed in perfect interjections. Unfortunately, the creature is nothing but disgusting and does not even provide a bit of fear. The predator is supposed to create fear or at least discomfort in the watchers’ minds. The film heavily relies upon Computer Graphics (CG) and VFX. Harish Uthaman, Bharath and newbie Kavya Shetty have done well to support the film. It is saddening to watch such a talented actor being utilised only for an extremely minor and insignificant role. Aishwarya Lekshmi’s character arc has no depth at all, and the movie would work perfectly without her character at all. Both of these actors have given strong performances. The movie revolves mainly around Arya and Simran’s characters. This undermines the value of proper sci-fi and rather makes it half-baked. Similarly, many scientific explanations are made incompletely. It is basic logic to use cavalry to fight an unknown enemy. For instance, even after identifying that the forest has been taken hostage by alien-like creatures, the army team and scientist Keerthi reach the forest in an open jeep. Logical loopholes are also abundant in the film. Continuity loopholes like these are majorly spread across the film. Post interval, however, we are never shown how they fought the Minotaur army. At the intermission, we are shown that Vetri Selvan and his team including Keerthi are attacked by hundreds of Minotaurs. Before the interval cut, we’re shown that the team really struggled to cope and fight with just 1 Minotaur. The first half fully goes into identifying the alien-like species and giving it a name, i.e., Minotaur. The movie is thankfully only 116 minutes long. Both of these songs could have been removed and replaced with action scenes or scientific theories. ![]() The second song is to convey the love track between him and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The first song is to establish Vetriselvan’s relationship with his team members including Karthik (Harish Uthaman) and Rekha (Kavya Shetty). ![]() Half of the first 30 minutes is swallowed by songs that could have been avoided. The movie moves mechanically to establish the storyline and Vetriselvan’s relationship with the people around him. How, Vetri Selvan and team, including Scientist Keerthi (Simran), identify and destroy the alien-like species, forms the rest of the story. It is then found that the place has alien movement. However, soldiers who have entered the place already have not returned. It is advised that you see this movie only if you’re open to giving it another chance.Captain Vetri Selvan (Arya) and his team of 5 are given the task to give a NOC to Section 42 forest range, by clearing it as safe for civilian movement. The captain is a first for the Telugu and Tamil film industries in general. Although the technical team put forth a lot of effort, budget restrictions make the VFX in this movie more cartoonish than realistic. The film may lose some viewers owing to the glaring concessions it makes because the styles it uses have hefty production costs. The problem is that he wants to make experimental films but only has a limited budget. ![]() The director, Shakti Soundar Rajan, is renowned for inventing genres that aren’t frequently seen in Indian movies. The battle scenes in the movie are beautifully shot and produced. There are a few outstanding sequences among Yuva’s poorer-than-average strokes. The music, composed by D Imman, perfectly captures the mood and tone of the film. On paper, “Captain” appears to be a good movie. With the tasks they were given, everyone else in the movie performed a good job. Simran had little on-screen time, yet she left a lasting impression. Aishwarya Lekshmi performs admirably in the part she was given. ![]() To enable this performer to deliver more captivating performance, the character design should have been enhanced. Due to its tedious premise, the picture falls short of producing the same amount of excitement as other alien movies and instead makes us feel bored.Īrya did a good job portraying Captain Vijay Kumar, and his performance was faultless. However, drawing in the public’s interest through the utilization of cutting-edge subject matter does not ensure commercial success at the box office. Hollywood’s Alien films are certainly no secret to anyone, and the youth of the 1990s loved Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Predator.” If you enjoyed Predator, you’ll likely enjoy The Captain because it is similar to that film in many respects.
